It's often been discussed whether to tweak Fremen alliance powers so allies can also ride worms. To date comment has generally been that it seems like such a minor change it's not worth the bother. Actual play has given me strong cause to disagree, and advocate this change. Factors to consider are thus:1. A nexus is always triggered by a worm and worms arrive under spice blows: so frequently a nexus coincides with tokens sitting on a worm.
2. The nexus resolves before the tokens are consumed: so an alliance with Fremen happens in time to save those tokens.
3. Many groups now play with increased victory requirements for 2-player and 3-player alliances. These increased requirements increase the frequency of cases where a victory attempt can be stalled by a player moving early in storm order blocking one stronghold. A worm rode in the Spice Blow supplies a free earlier move that can gazump such blocking.
Taken together those factors mean that frequently there is good value on gaining access to worm riding at the nexus. Even game-winning value. Thus I feel the proposed tweak is not so trivial as it may first appear, and so far I would advocate that good simple changes to make to Fremen are a) the free support in desert territories rule discovered and tested by WBC players, and b)allies gain worm-riding. Many other changes have been proposed, but all need playtesting before much comment can be made about them.
