How crazy would it be to incorporate the unused factions when you have less than 6 players? If you have two or three players, you could divide factions evenly and act like your factions are in permanent alliances.

But with 4 or 5 players, imagine having rotating control, say BG ans SG are out, whoever the first player is would take a BG turn after all other players have gone, and the second player would take a SG turn.

I imagine it would lead to a lot of chaotic suicide attacks by the NPC factions, keeping them weak so they couldn’t do much damage when outside your control.

Would this address the way this game can become imbalanced when you don’t have all six factions in play? Does this sound like a fun, wacky version to spice things up? Are there any reasons you would want to play this way instead of ignoring the missing factions?
